SO, WHY IS YOUR SKIN OILY?

Your skin has a natural in-built moisturising system which prevents the skin from drying out. If a dry surface is detected, your sebum glands (which produce the oil) are stimulated and release 'sebum' to hydrate the skin. This then gives the skin a shiny appearance.

HOW YOU SHOULD DEAL WITH IT...

men's oily skinFirstly, if you do have oily skin it is crucial to wash your face at night before bed. If you don't, the excess oil on the surface of the skin will settle inside the pores and create blackheads.

Secondly, don't use harsh astringents or claryfying lotions. Doing so will strip the oil from the face leaving it dry, thus stimulating the glands to release more oil. This can evolve into a viscous circle leaving your skin experiencing the 2 extremes, dry & oily. Instead fight-fire-with-fire by keeping your skin topped up with moisture regularly, this will help to keep your sebum glands dormant.
